About this blog
My name is Helen Eifert and I am currently a PhD student in the Planetary Exploration Lab at Northern Arizona University. I live in Flagstaff, AZ surrounded by tons of amazing public land and I am an avid Ultimate player. I've thought about starting a blog for a long time. The main motivation was honestly to have a formal outlet to organize all my thoughts and interests which can be overwhelming at times. The other thought was to provide my family and friends with some idea of where I am at the moment because that changes a lot. With my most exotic adventure yet on the horizon, traveling to Antarctica for field work, it seemed like a good time to pull the trigger. My advisor, Dr. Mark Salvatore and lab group peer, Schuyler Borges, both have blogs to document their trip to Antarctica in the dry valleys this field season (linked below). Since my trip will be heading out of South America by boat to the peninsula, I thought it would be cool to document a separate perspective. I revisited the idea of having a blog that can help organize my thoughts and decided on creating this site with three separate blog spots: Research, Outdoors, and Ultimate. These are the three main reasons I am usually wherever I am and the three things I am most passionate about. Enjoy!
